Heroes

While we're all sat waiting for the new seasons of 'Lost' and 'Prison Break' I've been getting into 'Heroes' to pass the time... they've started showing it on BBC2 on Wednesday here in the UK and friends that have seen some of it on Sky said it's right up there with 'Lost' in terms of watchability and storyline, so thought it was worth watching the pilot...

Well 5 episodes later and I'm definately hooked. Can't wait for it to air each week now - it helps that one particular character is rather nice (and invincible!) but the story alone is captivating enough to keep me watching - hopefully it gets better and the second season goes just as well ;-)

Save the cheerleader, save the world!

Wiiiii!

I'd been thinking about getting a Wii since it's release and had heard many good things from friends who had them... so when I bumped into a nice package deal on a shopping trip I gave in and bought a 3-game bundle pack ;-)

So far so good... been playing a fair bit of 'Wii Sports' and quite like 'Mario Party 8' for a friendly challenge. 'Transformers' is a bit odd and I'm not really getting into it yet but by far the best is 'Zelda: Twilight Princess'. The graphics are surprisingly good and it's great fun to play with some challenge but not too taxing. Looks like it's gonna be great value for money too with my playtime at around 8hrs and only having completed about 15-20% according to the walkthroughs ;-)

I'll look forward to the post showing the final scenes...

Facebook

I know it's been far too long again without a post... work's been taking over a bit again with me working most Saturday's now too so it doesn't leave too much time for anything interesting to happen to post about :-(

Anyway, after much prodding, nagging and moaning I've given in and got a Facebook account. If you know me (or want to know me) then log yourself in and give me a search!

Top Google

Update to the post below about Suzi's t-shirt... if you google the phrase on the t-shirt, guess who's site pops up in the number 1 position in the listings? :-)

Naughty

Was watching The Gadget Show last night and spotted a couple of things worth noting...

1 - When we walked into the Custard Factory last week I instantly thought 'hmm, these look exactly like the buildings and courtyard where they film The Gadget Show' - well on last night's show it was confirmed, as through the windows behind the presenters you could make out the massive metal lizard climbing up the wall opposite. It's the lizard that climbs the wall next to the Medicine Bar so definately the filming location ;-)

2 - Suzi's t-shirt was absolutely genius: "You've been very naughty, go straight to MY room!" hahahaha brilliant ;-)

The Rebellion

Every now and then I get invited out to see some random live bands in pubs (just for something to do a bit different) and normally they don't quite live up to their reputations (Phil and Sam excluded of course - their stuff is great). Last night, sis planned a visit with bro-in-law over to the Medicine Bar/Factory Club in The Custard Factory in Digbeth, deep in Birmingham's outer city center. We thought we'd take the invite of somewhere new and set off out to find it...

This was a bit of special invite, as one of the band members was an old friend of sis' from school and it was one of their first gigs on their Midlands tour after adding a 5th band member and re-naming to The Rebellion. We knew they were suppossed to be good, but were pleasantly surprised how good. Must be one of the best live bands I've heard and all their own material. Give them a listen - they've got some demos up on their MySpace page. They sound even better live than the demo so why not pop along and see them on their mini-tour?

Good luck guys... I think you're going to go far, hopefully see you again at V :-)

Tadalafil

At the time of writing this, the 3rd most common search phrase entry to the site is "Tadalafil". Brilliant. For those who don't know, "Tadalafil" is more commonly known as "Cialis" and is the subject of rather a large proportion of spam that gets shoved around the net. More info on it can be found here on Wikipedia.

I know I've never commented on this stuff before, so there's only one possible reason for the high search listing - it must be mentioned way too much in the comments from the barrage of automated posts that get blocked everyday. Virtually none of the posts make it to the site because they are automatically blocked or removed, but it just goes to show that there's so many that even though they don't make it onto the site they can still influence the search listings... impressive, even though they are so infuriating.

Typical

Absolutely typical... worst weather we've had in the Midlands since those winds a while ago and I still get to work quicker than I have all this week! It's the something or other fair at the NEC and as ever everyone likes to arrive/depart just nicely to coincide with the normally heavy anyway office traffic.

Working quite literally within sight of the NEC, it's been causing major headaches this week. The journey in has consistently doubled from 30mins to just over an hour, and the journey home typically 1hr 15m. We've got one choice of road out of the area and it's one of the major routes out the NEC. 30mins to do 1/2mile just to get round the corner onto the M42 every night. Unbelievable.

Anyway, the grid-lock theory has been proved apparently spot on this morning. Normally the M42 runs at national limit in the mornings and inevitably we do about 20mph stop-start. With the heavy snow, the limits have been dropped to 40mph all the way in and with everyone sticking to it the traffic's virtually on free flow. Amazing, limit at 70mph and it takes 1hr to get to work, limit at 40mph and it takes a calming 40mins.

Shame the snow is getting worse though - might get snowed in :-(
